If you don’t already know, I went to Arizona. On day two, we went to Angels Spring Training at Tempe Diablo Stadium.
The Angels were playing the Diamondbacks. Our friends, Blane and Makela, were there. We got seats in the Party Patio. It has free hot dogs, hamburgers, salad and drinks. Later, they brought out dessert.
In the first inning, the Diamondbacks didn’t score. When the Angels were up, Kole Calhoun hit a single and then Albert Pujols hit a two run home run. The Angels scored two more that inning. About halfway through the game, the Angels were winning seven to one. The Diamondbacks tried to make a comeback by scoring three more runs. Fortunately, it didn’t work. I do not mean to offend any Diamondbacks fans, but I was glad the Angels won. That day was very fun.
The 25th of January was Angels Night at the Honda Center. The sad fact was that the Ducks lost 4-0 to the Edmonton Oilers. It was still fun, though. We arrived very early. There was a tent giving out free Ducks shirts. The shirts were size large or X-large.
They had an Angels logo on the sleeve. The Honda Center, I discovered, is very nice. There is a lot of marble. It also doesn’t feel as packed as some stadiums do. They started practicing early with about 50 pucks. We were very high up.
The Oilers scored their first goal in the second period. They scored 3 in the 3rd period. Kids played hockey during the first intermission. During the second intermission, we went to get hot dogs. I got a picture with a cardboard Ducks player.
It was very fun despite the fact that the Ducks lost.
We had a private tour of Angel Stadium with a group of friends.
While outside we learned that Angel Stadium and Fenway Park, to list two, each have a Mickey Mouse because they won a World Series. We started at the 2002 World Series Case. Then the group went up the elevators. Floor 2 was almost employees only. Our tour guide told us that her favorite time in the press conference room was during the drafting. We went to the FOX sports press box. Finally, we went to the Gene Autry Suite. It had a real Rod Carew jersey! Then we took the elevator down to the visiting team room. It was cool, but from what we heard the Angels room is nicer. Then came the best part… We went to the Angels dugout! After the tour we bought some hats in the gift shop. Both the Angel Stadium and Fenway Park tours were amazing.
On our trip to New England we toured Fenway Park. It is home of the Red Sox.They have the oldest Major League stadium.
We started at the bottom and made our way to the seats. We walked around to the earliest chairs from the stadium and sat in them. They were made of wood!
After that, we saw the room where they got ready for the game. Both teams shared the room so there were brawls! Then, we went to the seats in the Green Monster which is their mascot. They are the best-rated seats of the MLB stadiums. Next, we saw the reporters’ box. Finally, we saw this seat where Ted Williams, who is the greatest baseball player of all time, hit the farthest home run in Fenway Park.
After the tour, we were allowed to go into the season ticket holders only museum.
It has all the Cy Young and MVP awards and many more things.
After we left the stadium, they had a statue of some of the most important Red Sox in history.
Fenway Park is one of the most historic stadiums in the world.
